Introduction to Strategic Foresight Training
There is no single future waiting to be predicted. There are multiple futures that could unfold, and the choices we make today influence how prepared we will be. Strategic foresight provides practical tools to anticipate change, challenge assumptions, and get ready for multiple futures by turning uncertainty into strategic options.
This practical, introductory training provides a clear foundation in foresight thinking and core methods, from horizon scanning and scenario building to backcasting and strategic action. Participants learn how to explore emerging change, consider alternative futures, and translate foresight insights into better strategic decisions today.
Delivered live by Dr. Judit Kozenkow, who brings over 15 years of applied economic and strategic foresight experience. The training combines concise instruction with hands-on exercises, allowing participants to experience the methods in practice and consider how they can be applied to real-world strategic challenges.

The Program
The training consists of four live online sessions covering the foundations of strategic foresight and its practical application:
Introduction to Strategic Foresight
Developing the foresight mindset and understanding why moving from prediction to preparedness matters for strategic decision-making. Participants are introduced to the core concepts and language of strategic foresight and how it can strengthen decision-making under uncertainty.
Foresight Methods I: Horizon Scanning & Scenario Building
Exploring emerging trends, weak signals and drivers of change, and using them to develop plausible alternative futures. Participants learn how to look beyond current assumptions and systematically explore what could shape the future.
Foresight Methods II: Backcasting, Roadmapping & Design Futures
Working backward from desired futures and exploring ways to translate future possibilities into pathways for action. Participants are introduced to practical approaches for connecting longer-term aspirations with decisions and steps in the present.
Strategic Implications and Actions for Today
Connecting foresight to strategy: identifying what to prioritize, monitor and act on in the present. The focus is on translating insights from alternative futures into concrete strategic considerations and actions.
Trends Beyond Hype is a geoeconomic briefing for policymakers, executives, analysts, and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of the developments shaping the global landscape beyond daily headlines and short-lived narratives.
Each interactive 90-minute session (see upcoming sessions below) explores a strategically selected set of geoeconomic trends with the potential to influence policy, business, and strategic decision-making in the years ahead. Following a concise 20-minute briefing by Dr. Judit Kozenkow, participants engage in a discussion and Q&A focusing on interpretation, implications, and practical relevance.
The objective is not to predict the future, but to identify emerging developments, assess their significance, and explore possible consequences from multiple perspectives.
Participation is limited to 10 attendees to encourage meaningful exchange, critical reflection, and peer learning.
